Contemporary Landscape
These paintings demonstrate my present preoccupation with landscape in all its forms. Man is ephemeral, here for a brief moment in time. Cliff, carn, sea and sky are timeless, changing little over thousands of years. These elements are now the subject of my paintings, a huge canvas to explore.
As a young man I worked as a documentary film maker, and learnt the selective skills, the seeing-eye which can frame the moment that will make the audience ‘see things’ differently. Painting is an extension of that framing the moment, see things differently.
